Creating a Digital Story with Visuals and Audio: Apply the concepts learnt about selecting visuals, audio, and voiceovers to create a short digital story. Follow the steps below to complete the task within two teaching hours (90 minutes).
Activity 1: Visual and Audio Selection (45 minutes)
- Storyboard Creation (15 minutes):
Based on a topic of your choice (such as an event, personal experience, or a fictional story), create a simple storyboard that outlines the key scenes of your digital story. Include descriptions of the visuals and audio that you plan to use for each scene. Consider the characters, setting, and plot while making your selections. - Visual Selection (15 minutes):
Find or create images and videos that align with your storyboard. Choose visuals that enhance the narrative and evoke the desired emotions. Ensure the visuals are relevant and of high quality. You may use free copyright resources or AI-generated visuals. - Audio Selection (15 minutes):
Choose background music, sound effects, and/or voiceover that will complement the visuals. Identify key moments in your story where the sound can enhance the emotional impact. You can use free resources or AI-generated music and sound effects. Make sure the audio coordinates well with the visuals for a cohesive experience.
Activity 2: Recording a Voiceover and Finalizing the Story (45 minutes)
- Voiceover Recording (20 minutes):
Record a clear voiceover for your digital story. Make sure you're in a quiet environment, and use the microphone correctly. Pay attention to proper pacing, breathing, and microphone etiquette. Listen to the recording through headphones and make adjustments as necessary to ensure clarity. - Final Editing and Integration (25 minutes):
Use video or audio editing software to combine your visuals, music, and voiceover into a cohesive digital story. Ensure that the visuals are synchronised with the audio for a smooth and engaging experience. Make final adjustments to the audio levels, pacing, and timing.
Deliverables:
● Submit a short digital story (2-3 minutes long) that includes your selected visuals, audio, and voiceover.
● Provide a brief explanation of your storyboard and the choices you made for visual and audio elements.
This task will help you practise the skills of combining visuals and audio to enhance your digital storytelling.
